Photograph by Henri Cartier-Bresson. © Henri Cartier-Bresson/Magnum Photos

In 1919 Cristobar Balenciaga, opened his first boutique, named Eisa - a shortening of his mother maiden name in San Sebastian. Little did he know that he was going to be the " the master of us all " as Christian Dior stated. He moved his House in 1937 in Paris at Avenue Georges V and quickly he became known all around, that his customers were risking their lifes during WW2 in order to see and buy his designs and unique pieces.

Balenciaga alone is a couturier in the truest sense of the word. Only he is capable of cutting material, assembling a creation and sewing it by hand, the others are simply fashion designers. - Coco Chanel

His spanish heritage, is shown in many of his iconic pieces that were exhibited in London in 2017 and now in Balenciaga Museum.

Our Top 10 YSL.

In the final days of October, the idea of creating a top 10 Yves Saint Laurent list seemed pretty cool. So I sat myself down, did some research and here I am, representing my favorite pieces. Charming textures, expensive well-handed fabrics and delicate colours were proponderating during the last decade and 2014, a year after the opening of their flagship boutique in Paris, making the House one of the top between many, like Versace, Miu Miu, Armani.
After Tom Ford left the brand in 2004, Stefano Pilati was leading with a sexy french attitude, a movement that ended soon by Hedi Slimane and the revive of Yves Saint Laurent's couture line in 2015.

                  1. The classic yet trendy appeal from the rock n' roll era of the 50s. ( Winter 2014 )

                                      2. Princess Sissy of the Millennials. ( Spring 2001 )

                               5. To fall head over heels in love with the dress. (Fall 2003)

                                6. To spring out of bed with your everyday fur. ( Spring 2002 )
